Skylake's Predecessor, 'Kaby Lake': What we know about it right now

Intel's lineup of their next-generation processors is rumored to be called 'Kaby Lake'.

Kaby Lake is rumored to remain as a 14nm architecture. Let's look at what are some additional features of this new processor.

The Kaby Lake Processors have two main features that you might be interested about. The first one is Native USB 3.1 support. Yes, USB 3.1, USB Type C, these ports are the future! Android flagships are being put with Type C ports instead of Micro USB, and some devices such as the MacBook feature USB 3.1/C as the only port additional to the headphone jack. With Skylake, manufacturers needed a third-party chip for USB 3.1 support, however, Kaby Lake removes this bulk by making it native to the processor. The second feature is supporting encoding with 10-bit HEVC and VP9 streams. This is because of the integrated graphics upgrade, with a Intel HD Graphics 520. The GPU will also be more friendly to 3D and 4K, as the market is headed toward that way.

The 'Kaby Lake' Processors or rumored to arrive in late 2016 or early 2017.
